Read the 2026 State Convention Accessibility Review
✸ ✸ ✸ ✸ ✸
Following the 2026 Minnesota DFL State Convention, the Outreach and Inclusion Subcommittee on Accessibility conducted a comprehensive review of the convention experience.
The review draws from committee discussions, participant feedback, survey responses, direct conversations, and the experiences of DFLers who encountered accessibility barriers during the convention. It examines both areas of progress and significant gaps in planning, communication, physical access, accommodations, and the overall participant experience.
The purpose of this report is not only to document what happened but to help the Party learn from the 2026 convention and improve future planning. Its recommendations are intended to support the 2028 State Convention and other large DFL events by encouraging earlier accessibility planning, clearer accountability, and more meaningful inclusion of people with disabilities throughout the planning process.
This is a detailed report, reflecting the breadth of feedback received and the importance of the issues raised. We encourage Party leaders, staff, convention planners, and local units to use it as a resource when planning future events.
