The Outreach & Inclusion Committee provides trainings and practical resources to strengthen organizing, leadership development, and inclusive party-building across Minnesota. This session is a Restorative Practices 101 focused on foundational skills and practical application. Participants will explore how restorative approaches can be used within the DFL to respond to harm, navigate conflict, and rebuild trust after difficult meetings, conventions, or internal disputes. Drawing from established research on political mentoring and adapted for our party’s organizing context, this guide outlines the purpose of mentoring, the roles and responsibilities of mentors and mentees, and practical tools for building effective mentoring relationships.
Mentoring is a partnership rooted in trust, reflection, and shared learning. In the DFL context, it supports leadership development, strengthens institutional knowledge, and helps new and emerging leaders navigate the political environment with greater confidence and clarity. This guide offers structured recommendations, sample frameworks, and concrete strategies to ensure mentoring relationships are intentional, productive, and sustainable.
